Reddit (RDDT): AI Could Make This Platform Even More Valuable

Artificial intelligence is changing how people find information, but we don’t think that means traditional online communities are becoming less important. In fact, Reddit (RDDT) may be one of the biggest beneficiaries as AI-powered search continues to grow.

What makes Reddit unique is its library of authentic, user-generated discussions. As more people turn to AI assistants for answers, those models increasingly rely on trusted sources of information. Reddit’s massive collection of real conversations puts the company in a strong position to benefit from that trend.

The platform also has multiple ways to monetize its growing influence. In addition to advertising, Reddit can generate revenue by licensing its data for AI training and other applications. That creates an additional growth opportunity beyond its traditional advertising business.

We also believe Reddit has a long runway for user growth. The company is pursuing an ambitious long-term goal of reaching one billion users, and increased citations from AI models could help drive more traffic back to the platform as users look for the original discussions behind AI-generated answers.

Revenue growth could remain impressive as Reddit continues investing in both its communities and its advertising platform. Continued improvements in monetization have the potential to support annual revenue growth above 30%, while the business remains highly efficient.

One aspect of Reddit’s business model that stands out is its low capital spending. At a time when many technology companies are dramatically increasing capital expenditures to support AI initiatives, Reddit’s capital expenditures account for less than 1% of revenue. That asset-light model gives the company greater flexibility and could allow improving EBITDA margins to translate into stronger free cash flow over time.

The stock trades around $178 per share. While shares have gained more than 20% over the past three months, they remain down about 22% year to date, giving investors an opportunity to buy into the long-term AI story below previous highs.

KeyBanc recently initiated coverage with an Overweight rating and a $225 price target, representing approximately 26% upside from recent levels. Analyst Justin Patterson believes Reddit’s trusted communities provide a durable source of traffic that complements search engines, social media, the broader web and large language models.

Wall Street is generally constructive on the stock. According to LSEG data, 20 of the 30 analysts covering Reddit rate the shares either Buy or Strong Buy. The average analyst price target stands at $231.36, implying roughly 30% upside from current levels.

As AI changes the way people search for and consume information, we believe Reddit is uniquely positioned to benefit. Its combination of trusted content, multiple monetization opportunities, asset-light business model and long runway for user growth makes it an attractive long-term AI investment.
