Brookfield Renewable (BEPC): High-Yield Dividend Stock With Long-Term Growth Potential

The broader market has climbed sharply over the past year, pushing the S&P 500’s dividend yield down to around 1.1%, one of its lowest levels in more than two decades. That makes it increasingly difficult for income investors to find attractive yields without sacrificing quality.

We believe Brookfield Renewable (BEPC) stands out as one of those rare opportunities.

Shares have fallen nearly 20% from their 52-week high, even though the company’s underlying business continues to perform well. That pullback has pushed the dividend yield to nearly 4.5%, creating an attractive entry point for investors looking for both income and long-term growth.

Brookfield Renewable has built an impressive track record of rewarding shareholders. The company has increased its dividend by at least 5% every year since 2011 and expects to continue growing the payout at an annual rate of 5% to 9% going forward.

That dividend growth is backed by a highly predictable business model. About 90% of the company’s cash flow is secured through contracts with an average remaining term of 12 years, providing stable and visible revenue. Management expects cash flow to grow by more than 10% annually through at least 2031, giving the company plenty of room to continue raising its dividend.

Several growth drivers support that outlook. Inflation-linked pricing built into many contracts should steadily increase revenue over time. As older agreements expire, the company also has opportunities to secure higher market rates, improving margins. On top of that, Brookfield Renewable continues investing heavily in new projects while pursuing strategic acquisitions.

The company expects to deploy between $9 billion and $10 billion over the next five years to fuel growth. Roughly $850 million per year is earmarked for development projects, with the remaining capital expected to support acquisitions that expand its renewable energy portfolio.

The stock trades around $34 per share. With a dividend yield approaching 4.5%, a long history of annual dividend increases, stable contracted cash flows and multiple avenues for future growth, we believe Brookfield Renewable offers an attractive combination of income and capital appreciation for long-term investors.
